There is a broad range of filtration systems designed to remove various undesirable elements such as calcium, iron or salt from surface or underground sources.
The system below was designed for a new house in Cape Town, where water sheeting below the surface down the mountain produced a new spring once the foundations had been thrown. The system consists of settling and storage tanks and a series of filters that can produce 2 000 litre/hour of drinking quality standard water for the house, swimming pool and garden. The pump and water purification system are backed up by an inverter system during load shedding ensuring continuous water supply.

UV rays (Photons) penetrate the cells and alter their nucleic acid (DNA) so that the cells are unable to reproduce and are rendered inactive.
It is important to note that the water needs to be crystal clear to allow complete penetration. A sand filter and activated carbon filter are the primary process before disinfection takes place in order to remove the dead cell husks and improve the taste of the water.
UV disinfection does not remove metals such as iron and lead or hard minerals such as calcium from the water. Further processes are required to accomplish this and we can assist you in doing this.

Filtration and Copper Ionisation
Ionisation – Copper and Zinc
Copper-Zinc ionization takes place when an electric current passes through the water between two Copper and Zinc electrodes of different polarity, a process known as electrolysis. During the process copper and Zinc ions are formed.
The copper ions attract particles of the opposite polarity in the water, such as bacteria, viruses and fungi. The positively charged copper ions form electrostatic compounds with the negatively charged cell walls of the microorganisms and thus influence the permeability of the cell walls. The copper ions enter through the cell walls, opening a way for the zinc ions in the water to enter the cell and bond with the various parts inside the cell such as the cell’s DNA and RNA as well as the cellular proteins and the respiratory enzymes. The life support system of the cell becomes immobilized and the growth and multiplication of the cell is stopped. The cell will eventually die off, but can no longer do any harm.
Copper ions not only act as a good algaecide but also as a very good flocculent and over a long period will destroy biofilm in the water pipelines.
This system is very effective with high volumes of water. The water quality is monitored with an ORP (Oxidation reduction potential probe) which is placed in line after the dosing point. The ORP controller is set to a certain value and will start the dosing process and copper ionization as soon as the probe reads a value below the set point. The Copper ions are released and the booster pump will pump water through a reaction chamber which has Bromine tablets in it. Bromine is a lot more environmentally friendly than chlorine and dissipates a lot faster.
